Keeping a vehicles paint free of contamination is essential if you want a smooth glass like finish. Bugs, tar spots and fallout can all build up on your paint works clear coat, and require removing prior to polishing. Typically a decontamination will involve removing tar and fallout using tar remover and fallout remover respectively. Once the chemical decontamination is complete, a clay bar can be used to pull out what’s left. If your paint doesn’t feel smooth when it’s clean, then it’s time for a decontamination. Snow foams, TFR’s and citrus Prewash’s are great for removing as much dirt as possible before contact washing while a good shampoo will provide plenty of suds and lubricants, preventing damage by dragging dirt across the Paints surface.
